The America’s Finest City 5k or AFC 5k is a very quick running course that is held in Balboa Park.  This running course starts and finished in front of Half of Champions in Balboa Park.  Remember, a 5k is only 3.1 miles, so you will see many people start out the blocks quick and not stop.  Don’t let this intimidate you though.  There are all types of runners at this event.  You will see many people training to improve their overall running times and you may also see people participating just to get out of the house.  Only 1,500 runners can participate in this event, so plan ahead of time to get your name on the list. 

This 5k race starts properly at 6:45 am, while the half marathon starts at 7:00 am.
